Sorbitol 70% USP

Sorbitol is a moisturizer for cosmetic and pharmaceutical use and a food sweetener.

It is resistant to acid, alkaline and bacterial attack, heat stable, non-toxic and non-volatile. It has the ability to sequester metal ions and is not flammable. Sorbitol is used as a sweetener in dietary foods.
It is rated as a nutritive sweetener because each gram contains 2.4 calories, much less than 4 in sucrose or starch. Its flavor is sweet and is totally soluble in water, glycerin and propylene glycol.
It is a natural product, which can be found in various fruits. The extraction of sorbitol from these natural sources is not economically feasible, so it is produced industrially by catalytic hydrogenation of glucose.
It has syrup consistency, clear, colorless, viscous, neutral pH and free of suspended particles.

The non-crystallizable Sorbitol solution, meets all USP/NF requirements. It is an aqueous solution with a total solids range of 68.5% to 71.5%. The D-Sorbitol content is a minimum of 45.0%, and it also contains small amounts of mannitol and other polyhydric alcohols.
